Wonderful Arms
I think it's been 3 weeks or so since I last posted something, but it's understandable, I've been pretty sick. Many of you know this, and recently I got out of the hospital. Hoor-ay! While in the hospital I became very much aware of a lot of little things that I never really noticed. For instance, I love my arms now. At this moment I have a PICC line, which is basically a hyped-up IV line, in my right arm which makes it difficult to bend my elbow which means I have to eat with my left hand and grab for things with that hand and depend more on that hand. It's hard, but I am getting better at it. There was one day in the hospital, and I felt really pathetic, but I had the PICC line in my right and an IV in my left hand, and I was hungry. My dad was a pal and fed me, and honestly enjoyed it and but I felt feeble and was so happy when I got one of my arms back. A little thing that makes a big difference. Enjoy your arms people and being able to use them! :)

So happy to see you back at school for a while and to read all your blog posts! I can't imagine what you've been through and I'm happy that it's all healing now. I had a PICC line put in once for a couple weeks, we can compare scars once yours comes out! :D
ReplyDeleteAlso wanted to say I love that you have thankful, versus "woe is me", posts! This speaks so much to your character. It's a real eye opener for us all! Thank you Brikken!
Well when it comes to an unfortunate situation like this, you have to have a positive attitude. Being negative will only make me miserable. Nobody told me there would be a scar! :O Oh well. I have had this PICC line for 3 weeks this Thursday...too long. I enjoyed reading this and learning that about you, why did you have a PICC line? Btw I only just realized the other day how long it actually is! I was shocked! :P
ReplyDeleteI had mine when I was hospitalized when I was 11 for a lung infection that was related to cystic fibrosis. I was never in critical ICU-level danger, but I spent about a week in the U of M's children's hospital and had the PICC for a week longer. I'm surprised to see your PICC line is on your right arm, though, and so far down! Mine was on the inside of my upper left arm. Because it's literally a tube that enters the artery of your heart, that's about as close as it gets, but your tube must have much further to travel!
ReplyDeleteAnd no worries - the scar isn't bad, just 5 small dots from the tube entry site and 4 stiches!I wonder if yours would be slightly different though because of the different site... anyways, best of luck in getting it out soon!
